About the role….

  • Working within the Deal Origination Team, which builds a pipeline of deals for the wider Corporate Finance team
  • Using research tools to find interesting businesses for the Corporate Finance team, creating target lists and highlighting key businesses we should get to know
  • Researching markets that are attractive for M&A, using webinars, industry experts’ publications etc
  • Creating insight pieces, using knowledge from the wider Corporate Finance team and original research, to help build relationships with new and existing targets
  • Working to deadlines and multi-tasking to support other members of the origination team
  • Taking responsibility for Cooper Parry Corporate Finance’s social media presence – posting on LinkedIn to attract the right audience and monitoring our coverage

What will you gain from your placement year?

  • An insight into a career in corporate finance (selling privately owned companies to trade and private equity, and advising private equity houses on their platform investments and bolt on acquisitions. What makes businesses attractive to buyers and adds to company valuations.
  • A greater understanding of the key sectors for mergers & acquisitions such as healthcare, technology and tech-enabled business services.
  • An insight into business development will be useful for all future careers
  • We’ll make sure you’re challenged and supported every step of the way with your career development.

What you’ll need:

  • Can demonstrate an interest in business
  • Is articulate and can write written pieces
  • Has excellent research and analytical skills
  • Is creative, proactive, enthusiastic, full of ideas and a great team player
  • Want to stretch themselves and go above and beyond the norm
  • Self-motivated with a desire to succeed
  • Strong problem solving skills with an innovative approach
  • A minimum of 3 A-levels or A-level equivalent qualifications and currently in second year of a degree
