Accounting and Advisory Assistant Manager

Job description

CP Futures Assistant Manager (accounting and advisory focus)

We’re killing it....

We are one of the fastest growing accountancy firms in the UK and we have the awards to prove it. We were voted the #No1 Accountancy firm to Work for in the UK by best companies, along with a host of other awards as well…so what make us so special?

We also have amazing relationships in place for Early Stage and Scale Up businesses such as sponsoring Tech Nation Upscale and partnering with Crowdcube. You can find more details about these at Connected To The Ecosystem – Cooper Parry.

So what makes all this happen? Because we are leaving the dull old ways of accountancy behind, making our own rules, and always putting our people at the heart of our success.

About the role

Are you a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) currently working in audit and looking for your next challenge? Do you love helping to find solutions to clients’ problems? Do you want to get involved with improving a client’s finance systems? Do you want to take charge of their year end accounting and finance processes? If so, please read on.

We have an exciting new role within our fast growing CP Futures team. There are two key areas we want you to support us with.

The first is the client portfolio side. We offer an end-to-end solution to our clients, acting as a fully outsourced finance team for some. As you grow into your role, we offer you the opportunity to manage a portfolio of client work, which can be as varied as you like depending on your experience! We will work with you to ensure your skillset is maximised and added to. Our team has grown significantly over the last year, and we have a huge variety of exciting client opportunities we can offer you to develop your skill set and expertise, including:

  • Working with the key stakeholders of a business to improve their management information
  • Reviewing a business’ systems and processes to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements
  • Preparing a business for their very first audit – providing advice on what they need to consider and helping them to pull together a tidy audit pack
  • Acting as a financial controller (and eventually finance director) for our clients who need a fully outsourced finance team solution

The second is where we are looking for someone who is technically-savvy to play a key role in the delivery of statutory accounts for some of our audit clients, so our audit team can focus on what they do best. This will involve:

  • Reviewing single entity accounts prepared by more junior members of the team
  • Preparing consolidated accounts and cash flow statements, getting your teeth into complex areas such as mid-year acquisitions/disposals, foreign currency transactions etc
  • Assisting in the research of complex technical areas and finding solutions
  • Project managing a slick and efficient process from start to finish, keeping both the client and various internal teams happy
  • Playing a key role in the development and coaching of more junior members of the team

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified auditor to develop their career beyond audit and obtain key practical skills and business knowledge within a supportive team environment of a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation.

What you’ll need

  • Have an ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
  • Strong working knowledge of financial reporting requirements and FRS102. Experience of IFRS is desired but not essential
  • A proactive approach to maintaining knowledge and researching technical areas
  • Experience working with medium or large groups and familiarisation with consolidated accounts
  • Excellent project and time management skills to deliver multiple assignments to precise deadlines
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and deliver an outstanding client experience
  • Great attention to detail and ability to prepare a high-quality set of accounts
  • Ability to coach more junior team members and delegate effectively when needed

Let us know if you also have the following desired, but not essential, skills:

  • Experience with accounting software (notably Xero, QBO or Sage)
  • Experience with CaseWare
  • Experience managing software integration projects
  • Management accounting experience
  • Internal finance team or outsourced financial experience
  • VAT expertise
  • Business development experience

What's in it for you...

A little more about life at CP….
We are challenging grey...
We are challenging boring. We are challenging status quo. Our people engagement scores are through the roof – our people are fully engaged in everything we do - from how we embrace technology and workplace design to how we create innovative and flexible working patterns that have a positive impact on the service our clients receive and on the lives of our people. Our culture is who we are and it genuinely shapes our strategy and the experience for our clients. The way in which we operate and the incredible environment we are building is hugely advantageous to those wanting to combine a career in practice with an unrivalled culture and personal growth opportunity.
We are building a truly modern workplace culture...

We’ve always believed in trusting our people to make the right decisions for themselves. From how you dress (our only rule is ‘wear something’) to when you work (we have no ‘core hours’) and how often you holiday (we have open holiday). We have just introduced another game-changing element we call ‘Work From Anywhere. Forever’ (WFAF!). We now give our people the opportunity to work flexibly, and potentially from anywhere, giving our people the trust and accountability to deliver to the required standards.

Play to your strengths, we say. Create a role you’re truly passionate about. Then, work flexibly to design a life that’s right for you.

It’s different here. Read our culture book for yourself #makelifecount
